Next year I am trying out for cross-country. I am just wondering what is it exactly?

Running outdoors on trails, middle to long distance. If you're in high school, most races will be around 5 kilometers (3.1 miles). Depending where you are from, some courses can be quite hilly, others very flat.

Cross country is alot of fun. The scenery changes, unlike track and field. And often your race strategy is as important as your conditioning, since there is a lot of time for things to change in a race that long.

It is a sport where you run a 2 to 3 mile race. You run on grass, or on trails for the race, so you have to run up and down hills. Your team runs with you too all in the same race. It is a tough sport, so l suggest running before the season begins.

if your trying out next year start traning early, get out regulary, see if the cross country team has summer runs (dont be shy,get out there and have fun)
