Ok. l run (jog) at a constant pace and every time my left foot hits the ground l count..so when i'm finished running my left foot has hit the ground 1000 times (which takes me about 12-13 minutes) then l walk for about 6 minutes and then l start running again and do another set of 1000 left foots (12-13 minutes). Can anyone tell me how many miles (if any) l run? And how much weight can l loose this way? Is this a good method? .. l run every other day. oh and l do not know how long the track is.

P.s. I am 17 (150 lbs.) and l wanna join the army and I am not sure if this is acceptable or good enough

well it depends on ur stride size

Yeah there is no way to know without knowing your stride size. Why not run around a track to figure out how far you run. The Army website should have the requirements, or just Google it.

l am afraid the math on that is incomprehensible.

However, an important thing to remember about running for fitness is that time is more important than distance.

run on brother!

If you want to burnt fat you should be running at a pace that gives you somewhere around 60% of your maximum heart rate. If you want to get better at cardio go for about 80%. Do not determine your running according to your steps. Set a running route that takes about 30 mins and see over time if you can do it quicker and quicker.

It is hard to judge how far u run, because everyone runs differently. Also, people lose weight in different ways so that is hard to judge too. Judging by the amount of time it takes u to run 1,000 left foot steps, I'd say it is about 1 1/2- 2 miles, but that is a complete guesstimate. If u want to get in more shape, slowly increase the number of steps u take. Have easy days (where u do 1,000) & harder days (1,500-2,000). If u do the same workout every time, u will never improve. For the army, weight training would also be a good thing to do. Get a gym membership or get some free weights & work on weight lifting on the days u do not run.

l hope this helped!

This is basically what a pedometer does. If you measure your stride size and multiply that by your number of steps, that should give you a good idea how far you are going. Also, there are 5280 feet in a mile.
